Ottawa welcomes new Fundraising Coordinator

SOO - Greater Ottawa would like to welcome our new Fundraising Coordinator to Community Council, Karen Sagle.

Karen is the owner and lead planner of When Sparks Fly Weddings & Events, a wedding and event planning company based in Ottawa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and an Event Management Graduate Certificate from Algonquin College, and works as a Professional Development Program Coordinator for the Canadian Bar Association. Karen is also a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s #OneTeam Initiative as well as well as the You Can Play Regional Board, which both aim to promote inclusivity for LGBTQ+ athletes in sport within Canada.

Karen is also a competitive curler and has represented Ontario at multiple national championships, most recently the 2016 Mixed National Championships and the 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.  She enjoys playing sports and staying active, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She currently resides in Ottawa with her partner Brit and their 2 year old Boston Terrier, Phynlea.

This position is responsible for coordinating the community’s fundraising efforts by recruiting a fundraising committee and developing a year round fundraising plan.
