Red Laces

Team Bushido MMA and Fitness Center Be a Fan Support

On October 27 Team Bushido MMA and Fitness Center held a fundraiser for the Red Laces campaign in support of Special Olympics Ottawa. Various MMA athletes and members of the Center gave their time to give demonstrations of the various disciplines that make up MMA and help with the silent auction of MMA items. Volunteers as follows:

There was a fitness session with athletes led by Steve Roxborough a former member of the Community Council.
Tania Khatib also gave a self defence session for our athletes and other participants.

Team Bushido raised $1800. for Special Olympics Ottawa. Our thanks to all the volunteers who gave so generously of their time with special thanks to the Khatib family, Nabil, Tania, Leila and Nadia for holding up the event.

OPP Torch Run and the Ottawa 67's Junior hockey team "Big Ticket" Event

On October 24 the OPP Torch Run along with the Ottawa 67's Junior hockey team held their annual "Big Ticket" fundraiser as part of the Be a fan campaign. This event raised $2952.80 for Special Olympics Ontario.

Thanks to everyone from the Ottawa Police, OPP, Corrections, OC Transpo Security and Special Olympics who participated and assisted with this event. 
A particular thanks to the members of the Auxiliary programs from the Ottawa Police, Ottawa OPP Detachment and Lanark OPP Detachment.

St. Joseph's Catholic High School Celebrate "Be a Fan Day"

On October 25th St. Joseph's Catholic High School celebrated Red Laces Day by holding a floor hockey friendly between the Ottawa Gladiators and their junior
and senior
floor hockey teams.
The school raised $301.82 for Special Olympics Ottawa through sales of the "Red Laces' during the event and the two weeks prior.

Our sincere thanks go out to the students and teachers of St. Joe's with special thanks to teacher James Marcogliese who organized the event and Jenn Neufeld Head Coach of the Gladiators and her team of athletes.
Jenn also gave an excellent presentation on Special Olympics to one of the grade 9 classes.
