A Message from Council Regarding the Athletes Banquet

posted 27 Jun 2017, 17:50 by Admin Chair

Hello Athletes, Volunteers, Parents, Guardians,

First, let me introduce myself.  For those of you that don`t know me, my name is Liana, and I am the Programs Chair for Special Olympics – Greater Ottawa area.

If you are receiving this email, it is because you purchased a ticket to our annual Banquet, that was originally scheduled for June 24, 2017.  Due to unfortunate circumstances, there was a mix-up with the date advertised, and the banquet was in fact booked for Friday June 23rd.  This is an oversight that the entire council did not catch early enough, and for that we are very sorry.

We did our best to contact all of the athletes prior to the June 23rd event and let everyone know of the wrong date.  We know that this banquet means a lot to all of our athletes and we feel horrible that some were not able to make it.  However, I must also thank and praise all of the parents, group homes, athletes, volunteers, and guardians for pulling together an incredibly amazing evening. Over 75% of ticket purchasers were in attendance – this demonstrates the resiliency, and positive attitudes of our Special Olympics community here in Ottawa.

For those of you that were not able to make it on Friday, reimbursements will be available.  Please send the following information to me (reply to this email), and a refund will be mailed to you as soon as possible (a few short weeks):

1.      The name(s) of the ticket holder

2.      Ticket number (s)

3.      Whether the ticket was for a volunteer, athlete, or guest (i.e. parent)

4.      Total amount expected to be reimbursed

5.      Mailing address to send the cheque to

With this information, I will be able to properly reimburse you.

On behalf of the entire council, thank you for your patience and apologies again.
