9th Annual Festival Breakfast was held at Ottawa’s Convention Center. The theme this year was Champions celebrating Champions.
The guest speaker was well known executive Brian Burke, a Special Olympics Champion. Brian had just returned from Kuwait in support of the soldiers. Brian’s message to the audience was about the importance of giving back to one’s community, and he encourages all of his professional athletes to get involved with a charity.
Lisa Langevin from Kelly Santini and Vic Rauter from TSN were the co-hosts. Vic Rauter has been the MC for every Special Olympics breakfast in Ottawa and a huge supporter of Special Olympics.
There were record numbers this year, supported by numerous athletes from all over Eastern Ontario. A big thank you to Mike Pitre and the Ottawa Volunteer team for all of their hard efforts on this special day and throughout the year.
Lisa Langevin and Don Burke, with Kelly Santini, were once again critical to the success of this important event held annually in Ottawa. Don Burke was also honored later in November, at the Special Olympics Canada National Awards, as volunteer of the year in Canada. Outstanding!
